Datacore SANsymphony-V R9 PSP3 Update1 erschienen

Gerade einen Monat nach Erscheinen der PSP3 legt Datacore ein Update1 zur PSP3 nach. Hier ein Auszug aus den Releasenotes: (Unterschied zu PSP3)

Shared Storage Pool Space Reclamation

  • Reclamation will occur for one virtual disk at a time.
  • Additional status types and “reclamation pending or reclaiming” state of a virtual disk is displayed in the Virtual Disk page in the management console.
  • Status information is retained over a system restart.

SANsymphony-V 9.0 PSP3 veröffentlicht

Datacore hat am 10. Juni 2013 das PSP3 für SANsymphony-V 9.0 veröffentlicht.

.net Framework 4.5

Für die Installation wird das Microsoft .net Framework Version 4.5 benötigt. welches bei Microsoft zunächst nur als online Installer zu finden. Nicht jeder Datacore Server darf mit dem Internet kommunizieren. Somit wird das einige Admins vor Probleme stellen. Mit etwas Recherche findet man bei Microsoft jedoch auch einen Link zum Offline-Bundle.

Was ist neu in PSP3?

Ein besonders lästiger Bug der PSP2 wurde offensichtlich korrigiert. Bisher sprang der Fokus im linkes Bereich der GUI immer wieder auf die Server Gruppe. Das ist behoben. 🙂

Ein Auszug aus den Release Notes zur PSP3:

Performance Recording Improvements

  • Central Repository Database using Microsoft SQL 2008 or 2012 Edition. Note: The database software must be purchased and installed separately on the SQL server and is not included as part of the SANsymphony-V software.
  • PowerShell cmdlets for Performance Recording.

Simplified Virtual Disk Creation

Using an existing virtual disk as a template, easily create one or more new virtual disks with identical attributes, such as type, storage sources, size, reserved space, storage profile, mirror paths, data protection settings, preferred snapshot pool setting, and virtual disk group.

Replication Improvements

Improved initialization features and faster bandwidth utilization. Important Note: Non-Paged Pool memory requirements have been increased by 7MB per source replication virtual disk.

Virtual Disk Group Improvements

Ability to specify a “Preferred Snapshot Pool” per virtual disk to be used to create snapshot destinations volumes.

Management Console Improvements for Large Configurations

  • Host Groups: Hosts can be grouped to allow operations to be performed simultaneously on the entire group. Virtual disks can be served to or unserved from the group simultaneously with a single command. PowerShell cmdlets to perform these operations have also been added.
  • Added a Collapse option to panels for improved readability.

Fibre Channel HBAs:

Added support for 16GB Qlogic HBAs (QLE 26XX).

PowerShell cmdlets

PowerShell cmdlets have been added for storage profiles.

vSphere 5.1 U1 erschienen

VMware hat das Update1 für vSphere 5.1 veröffentlicht. Details zu Bugfixes und Neuerungen finden sich in den Releasenotes.

Was ist neu?

Neben der Unterstützung neuer Guest OS (Ubuntu 13.04), gab es zahlreiche Bugfixes. In Bezug auf Storage haben sich auch einige Dinge geändert. Cormac Hogan geht im vSphere Blog im Beitrag “New Storage Enhancements in vSphere 5.1 U1” näher darauf ein.

svMotion Rename Bug gelöst

Erfreulicherweise ist der svMotion rename bug nun endlich auch für vSphere 5.1 beseitigt. Für 5.0 U2 gab es schon einige Zeit einen Fix. Die Funktion ist allerdings nicht sofort nach dem Update funktional. Man muss zunächst in den erweiterten Eigenschaften des vCenter den Parameter provisioning.relocate.enableRename aktivieren.
